From an early age I worked at my father's forge, where I learnt the trade building furniture and other iron crafts. Not long after I had the privilege of joining the Traditional Forge and Restoration School of the Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial which gave me the opportunity to learn from some of the best craftsmen while restoring original 18th Century installations and pieces.
After this period of learning I went back to the family business and alternated forge and welding jobs with making knives for the hunters in the area.Slowly but surely knife-making took more of my work until 2015 when I decided to create my brand and opened my online store navajasbarbudo.es.
In early October 2016 a fire at the forge destroyed my shop, together with tools and machinery. Being a fighter as I am, I looked for opportunity in misfortune and decided to work as a full time knife maker, working with drive and dedication.
I try to combine in my knives my passion for the rich traditional Spanish knife-making with the use of new materials and modern international techniques. My designs cover from the horseman style to tactic knives and my influences and models extend from anonymous Spanish masters from the 18th and 19th Century to the style of Exposito, Gudy Van Poppel, Tod Begg knives, Luis Vergara,, Terzuola and so many other great craftmen and brands.
